The American League
finally began to play this week but from a replay perspective it is Week Two that
is completed now and I am going to stick with that nomenclature. The
National League began to play ten days ago, but it is only in the past two days
that both leagues have really cranked it up and began to play a full schedule
every day. I am still hesitant to go into any statistical analysis of the
replay just because of the lack of games played to date though. Never fear -
both leagues go full speed every day starting in Week Three.

Week Two did feature
a No-Hitter! Milwaukee starter Ned Garvin shutdown Detroit on Friday, April 26,
over Frank Owen. I don't know why I have so many no-hitters in my replays. I
had six (six!) in my 1930 replay and three in my 1949 replay, and now I have
wasted no time picking up my first one here in 1901. Detroit came back to score
21 runs against Milwaukee the following day, so on average, I suppose you could
say the results of the two combined games would be pretty normal.

Everything is still
going well so far. This is obviously a different type of baseball that I am
still adjusting too. Not having the box scores in BBR is vaguely problematic. I
always had them open for whatever game I was playing and it allowed me to see what
relievers or pinch-hitters were used on that day. There aren’t that many lineup
adjustments in 1901, but it was still comforting to have that information
available.
